Superb Jannik Sinner continued his year-end form with a impressive performance on home soil to reach a maiden final in Turin.

The 22-year-old Italian defeated Daniil Medvedev 6-3, 6-7(4), 6-1, and secured his place in the championship match with a valiant semi-final performance.

In the face of a formidable foe and the anticipation of a rapturous home crowd, Sinner produced a largely composed performance filled with precise baseline hitting to prolong his winning run at the ATP Finals.

“[It is an] incredible feeling,” said Sinner. “It was a really tough match today. I felt that he was playing more aggressively, especially in the first set. Somehow I made the break and from that point I felt better. The second set was really tight but then he played a very good tie-break. In the third set I just tried to stay a bit more aggressive and mixing up my game a little bit. I am happy to be in the final.”

To defeat the usually tenacious Medvedev, Sinner had to perform at his peak for the entire two hours and twenty-nine minute match.

It was Sinner, who crucially responded brilliantly to the setback of losing the second-set tie-break, that won 83 percent (50/60) of the points after his opening serve. Sinner cruised through the decider.

Awaiting the outcome of the match between Alcaraz and Djokovic,  Sinner will make his debut in the finale on Sunday.
