Alejandro Garnacho’s delightful bicycle kick inspired Manchester United to a deserved 3-0 victory over relegation-threatened Everton tonight.
Exactly nine days after 10 points were deducted from the Toffees’ points, they conceded a shocking opener in the third minute of this encounter with Garnacho’s goal-of-the-season contender overhead kick from Diogo Dalot’s cross.
After the early opener, United capitulated to their usual style of losing possession, which gave the host enough ground to work on equalizing.
Sean Dyche’s men did come close to finding the back of the net, but Andre Onana’s double save and Kobbie Mainoo’s goal-line clearance ensured the Red Devils protected their lead for the second half.
10 minutes into the half, Erik Ten Hag’s men were awarded a penalty after the referee overturned his decision to book Antony Martial for diving and penalize Ashley Young for a foul on the Frenchman in lieu.
Instead of Bruno Fernandes, a dip in form Marcus Rashford took the penalty and fired past his England compatriot— Jordan Pickford for his side’s second goal in front of the Goodison Park’s fans.
Then 19 minutes after, Everton’s nemesis, Martial scored United’s third goal from Bruno Fernandes’s assist to grab his ninth goal in sixteen appearances against the Merseyside club.
Of course, Anthony Martial scores against Everton. Again. Nine goals in 16 vs #efc. #mufc
