The heavy snowfall was reported to have ravaged overnight and is been predicted to fall until this evening, eliminating the chances of the Bundesliga game taking place at the Allianz Arena today.
“We very much regret that we have to postpone the match, but the safety of our fans and the supporters of Union Berlin has absolute priority,” Bayern’s CEO, Jan-Christian Dreesen said.
“In addition, access to the Allianz Arena is not guaranteed due to numerous road closures and various public transport cancellations. We will inform you about a possible new date as soon as possible.”
As reported on the club’s website, the procured tickets for the match will remain valid for the rescheduled encounter that’ll be confirmed once both clubs agree on a new date with the Deutsche Fußball Liga (DFL).
