Whilst helping Lautaro Martinez to receive his Gazzetta dello Sport award, Marotta was full of praises for the 26-year-old, whilst also revealing that a five-year contract renewal for the Argentine is in the pipeline.
The CEO’s words: “We are proud as Inter when one of our players wins an individual award, because in a team sport, the credit also goes to his teammates.
“He is improving fast, proving that in sport you start as a talent and must work to become a champion. He is getting closer to that reality and doing it in the best possible way.
“Of course. In fact, we are trying to extend the contract by another five years. We are negotiating and the good thing is that he has this great sense of belonging, which in modern football is truly not to be underestimated.”
The Argentine since joining Inter has been impressive since joining from Argentine clubside Racing in 2018. Although, Martinez originally won’t have made it to Inter if not for the breach in agreement between his boyhood club and Atletico Madrid in 2017.
Meanwhile, having joined the Nerazzuri’s for a €22.7 million swooping deal, he has gone to score 92 goals in 192 appearances. And in this present season, netting 15 goals in 19 games in the Serie A and the Champions League.
