Napoli’s President Aurelio De Laurentiis has tagged winning the Italian Serie A yearly as an unattainable task without resorting to cheating.

Having won the Serie A title last season for the first time in over three decades las May, the Club President alos promised expectant fans of another feat.

The Partenopei won their first Serie A title for the first time in 33 years back in May under Luciano Spalleti, and the club’s president has promised the fans another win, whilst also revealing his belief as regards winning the title.

But while speaking in a public gathering where Luciano Spalletti the title-winning Coach was granted a honourary citizenship, De Laurentiis on Thursday said it takes to be put extra effort to win the league consecutive times.

I promise you that the extraordinary experience of winning the Scudetto is repeatable,” the 74-year-old said.

He continued: “You cannot win the Scudetto without cheating. Winning it requires a specific set of conditions, which are not always going to be the same. And the players, even if there hasn’t been much change in the squad, do not always respond in the same way.

“We are not the only team in the championship, other teams are always looking to strengthen as well.

“We were fortunate to find players from teams in Europe who were not doing particularly well in their championships. Napoli also had that bit of luck, which you always need in life. Without that luck, you don’t often get those magic combinations you need to succeed.”

Napoli are currently fifth on the log with 24 points, and will be playing second-placed Juventus away at the Allianz Stadium tomorrow for both teams’ 15th league game of the season.
