Sevilla wasted no time in issuing manager Diego Alonso the pink slip after the Spaniard guided the side to another embarrassing loss to Getafe in front of their home fans tonight.
The Los Nervionenses were hoping to round 2023 off with a home win, but Manchester United’s loaneeβMason Greenwood inspired Getafe to a 3-0 victory that condemned the home team to 16th on the log.

Alonso’s dismissal means Sevilla has now sacked two managers this season, after JosΓ© Luis Mendilibar was showed the exit the door earlier in October, following his appointment in March.
“We can confirm that Diego Alonso will leave the club.
“We would like to communicate that Diego Alonso has been relieved of his duties as first-team head coach. We thank him for his efforts and wish him the best for the future,” the club’s official announcement reads.
Now sitting 16th on the log, Sevilla’s games in 2023 will be away to Granada and Atletico Madrid on December 19th and 23rd respectively.
