Ahead of the Derby d’Italia clash between Inter Milan and Juventus tomorrow, Simone Inzaghi has stated that a victory, although important, will not be decisive in the title race.

Although a win tomorrow will take the Nerazzurri four points clear of Juventus on the log, with a game in hand, the 46-year-old believes his side have to continually grind out positive results in the next four months.

Inzaghi said this during a press conference with TMW, ahead of the Super Sunday clash slated for 8:45 pm (WAT) tomorrow, at the San Siro.

His words: “We know we have great responsibilities on a daily basis. We played 30 very good matches positively. If I think back to the month of January, we played 5 games in 22 days, the last four away from San Siro and we brought home a trophy that we cared about a lot.

We have to continue, January was intense and positive but we have to look forward. Tomorrow evening we have a great match that we want to make it our own. But it’s an important match, I wouldn’t make comparisons: there are four months to go, it’s not decisive.”

Inzaghi highlights parallels with Allegri

Simone Inzaghi also discussed the similarities and discussions between himself and Juventus’ gaffer Massimiliano Allegri.

Allegri has won a lot, he is a winning expert, a practical coach. I like him a lot as a coach, we are also of different ages, what I can say is that this year I saw an excellent Juventus,” he said.

“Winning 16 games out of 21 means say that they were very good. A super team was needed to keep up with Inter and Juve are proving to be such.”

What to expect

Although Inter Milan Juventus shared the spoils in the first Derby d’Italia of the season back in November 2023, Simone Inzaghi’s side are slightly tipped to do the most for the maximum points tomorrow.

The Nerazzurri have also received a massive boost with the return of Hakan Calhanoglu and Nicoló Barella from suspension, as they look to extend their five-game winning home run in the Serie A.
