Real Madrid maintained their commanding lead in La Liga with a convincing 4-0 victory over Celta Vigo at the Santiago Bernabéu on Sunday.

Despite missing Jude Bellingham who’s serving a two-match ban resulting from the controversial draw against Valencia, Madrid showed no signs of weakness as they edge closer to winning the league.

Eduardo Camavinga had the first real chance of the match before Vinicius Junior capitalized on a rebound to score the opener in the 21st minute.

Celta’s wastefulness in front of goal was their greatest undoing, as Madrid dominated the first half and went into the break with the lead, despite failing at extending their lead too.

Celta approached the second half more cautiously, resulting in fewer chances for both sides. Real Madrid, however, eventually doubled their lead in the 79th minute through a set piece, with Antonio Rüdiger’s header glancing off Vicente Guaita and into the net.

Celta’s woes continued as they conceded an own goal in the 88th minute before Arda Güler scored his first goal for Real Madrid from Dani Ceballos’ assist.

The result extends Real Madrid’s unbeaten home streak to 19 matches, and keeps them comfortably ahead in the La Liga standings, while Celta’s relegation worries deepen.
