For the first time since his arrival at Real Madrid last summer, Arda Güler has finally found his scoring boot, as he rounded off the club’s 4-0 win over Celta Vigo on Sunday.
After Vinicius Junior opened the scoring in the 21st minute, two second-half own goals made it 3-0 in Madrid’s favour before Güler put his name on the scoresheet from Dani Ceballos’ pass in the 94th minute.
“It was fantastic to score in such a stunning atmosphere. I’m thrilled to have scored my first goal, thanks to everyone who has supported me,” the 19-year-old told RealMadridTV post-match.
“I hope there will be many more to come and I will work hard to make it happen.
“It was a good performance. I’d like to congratulate the whole team on the 4-0 win. It’s been a difficult season so far, but hopefully after today, better things will come. I’m really happy to be here. It’s the best club in the world and, although it’s tough, I think I have the quality and character to rise to it.”
The victory makes it 15 wins for Madrid in their last 18 home games, as they forge on in their quest to win their 36th La Liga title.
“We’re approaching it as we’ve been doing from the start, eager to win everything that’s remaining in order to make it a great season. The fans deserve everything,” Vinicius reacted.
Currently seven points clear of second-placed Girona, Madrid will next be ho against Osasuna in their Matchday 29th fixture at the El Sadar Stadium on Saturday.
