Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni has emphasised the need for France to view Saturday’s friendly loss against Germany as a crucial wake-up call ahead of their Euro 2024 campaign.

Florian Wirtz’s historic seven-second opener and Kai Havertz’s 49th-minute goal were enough for Germany to secure victory in France yesterday.

“I think we were outclassed in every department,” Tchouameni told French TV network TF1.

“We couldn’t put our game plan in place. We came up against a great team. We need to do better, individually and collectively.

“It’s a wake-up call, but there’s no need to overreact either. We are aware of and confident in our qualities.”

Next up for France will be another friendly against Chile at the Stade Velodrome on Tuesday, March 26.
