Acording to Antony, “Diogo Dalot is more than a friend” to him because he got him through a terrible time at Manchester United. In Manchester United’s thrilling FA Cup quarterfinal win over Liverpool, Antony scored just his second goal of the year. In recent months, he has come under heavy fire for both his on-field exploits and his conduct off field.
The former girlfriend of the Brazil international, Gabriela Cavallin, has accused him of violence, and he is currently the subject of an investigation in both his native country and England. Though he has refuted the accusations.
Antony has praised his teammate Dalot, with whom he has forged a deep bond, while acknowledging his struggles. He claims that the Portugal international has been a rock of support for him while he resolves his personal problems and his form.
Speaking to United’s official website, he said: “I’m very grateful to God and to a friend I talk to a lot. Diogo Dalot is more than a friend to me, he’s a guy who helps me every day at the club. We have a phrase that we always say to each other: the patient guy is unbeatable.
“We always talk about it. So I’m very grateful to him for his advice, for the moments we had together talking. He’s a guy who’s helped me a lot.”
Next weekend, United will play again against Brentford in an effort to aim for to the Premier League’s top four. With a game remaining, Erik ten Hag’s team is presently in sixth position, nine points behind Aston Villa in fourth. Antony will be looking to build on his better performance against Liverpool in the closing stages of the season by making a big impact.
