Real Madrid secured a 1-0 victory over Real Mallorca in their Matchday 31 La Liga clash courtesy of Aurelien Tchouameni’s 48th-minute strike at the Estadi Mallorca Son Moix on Saturday.
Carlo Ancelotti made about six changes to his starting lineup that earned the 3-3 draw against Manchester City midweek, and that was quite evident with the team’s disjointed attacking efforts despite their early dominance in the match.
It wasn’t until after the 30th minute before Antonio Raíllo registered the game’s first shot on target, only to be thwarted by a remarkable save from Andriy Lunin.
The scare served as a catalyst for change for Los Blancos who responded to the threat from the home team.
Just moments after Lunin’s heroics, Tchouaméni fed Jude Bellingham, whose strike rattled the Mallorca crossbar, signalling a shift in momentum.
However, despite the encouraging signs, Real Madrid struggled to find their rhythm before halftime, failing to test Mallorca’s goalkeeper, Predrag Rajković.
Two minutes into the second half, Tchouaméni leveraged the home team’s clearance from 30 yards out to unleash a thunderous strike that deflected off Antonio Sánchez and into the net.
Mallorca prevented Madrid from doubling their lead and will rue not getting an equaliser, as Ancelotti’s men scooped the three points at San Moix.
