Borrusia Dortmund clinched a spot in the UEFA Champions League (UCL) final for the first time since 2013, following a 1-0 (2-0 on aggregate) victory over Paris Saint Germain (PSG) at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday.
After losing 1-0 at the Signal Iduna Park last week, PSG unsurprisingly threw their all at Dortmund from the get-go, and almost got a goal shortly after the half-hour mark, when Kylian Mbappe outwitted a couple of defenders only for Ousmane Dembele to sky the chance.
Despite PSG’s dominance in the early stages, Dortmund held firm defensively and equally threatened attacking-wise, but neither team could break the deadlock before the halftime break.
PSG came back stronger in the second half, but it was Dortmund’s Mats Hummels who turned the tide with a powerful header in the 50th minute.
PSG’s desperation grew, as they attacked Dortmund from all sides, but the German side stood firm—with the help of the woodwork—until the final whistle.
Dortmund will face the winner of the semi-final clash between Real Madrid and Bayern Munich at the Wembley Stadium in June.
