To highlight a few records that were broken, Manchester City broke their tie with Manchester United and became the sole holder of the record for the most consecutive Premier League titles won. Manchester United on the other hand increased their record for the most victories and goals in the Premier League while Newcastle United bagged the record for the biggest aggregate win as well as the record for the most individual goal scorers during one match.
Looking at individuals, James Milner (Brighton & Hove Albion) tied the record for the most season appearances, Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) entered the top 10 of the overall top goal scorers in Premier League, while Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City) entered the top 3 for the most goal assists. Below are some of the records broken this season.
Manchester City
The champions, Manchester City, broke their tie with Manchester United, and they became the sole holder of the record for the most consecutive Premier League titles won – they have now won 4 years in a row, starting with the 2020-2021 season (Manchester United won titles 3 years consecutively on two occasions – between 1998-2001 and 2006-2009).
Manchester United
Manchester United bagged their record for the most victories in the Premier League – now that the 2023-24 season has concluded, they have won 744 matches in total (in second place is Arsenal with 673 wins) – during this year’s season, MU won 18 out of 38 matches. Everton increased their record for the most matches lost in the Premier League – now that the 2023-24 season has concluded, they have lost 448 matches in total (in second place is West Ham United with 442 losses) – during the season, Everton lost 16 out of 38 matches.
Everton
Everton increased their record for the most goals conceded (in total) – now that the 2023-24 season has concluded, they have conceded 1589 goals (during this year’s season, they have conceded 51 goals); Tottenham Hotspur are in second place with 1562 goals conceded. They also made their record for the most own goals scored in total – now that the 2023-24 season has concluded, they have scored 62 own goals (+3 during the 2023-24 season); Aston Villa are currently in second place with 58 own goals scored. Bournemouth on the other hand joined the record of Wolverhampton Wanderers, Manchester United, Wimbledon and Leeds United for the biggest goal deficit, which ended up in a victory – in March, they beat Luton Town 4-3.
Chelsea
Chelsea increased their record for the most yellow cards – in total, they have received 1982 yellow cards (+105 yellow cards during the 2023-24 season); Everton are in second place with 1937 yellow cards. Everton increased their record for the most red cards – in total, they have received 107 red cards (+1 red card during the 2023-24 season); Arsenal are in second place with 104 red cards.
Manchester City’s victory boosted their record of as the English city with the most top-flight titles won by its teams – this is the 30th title for Manchester (20 titles won by Manchester United, 10 by Manchester City); Liverpool is in second place with 28 top-flight titles (19 titles won by Liverpool, 9 by Everton).
