Ademola Lookman made history in the Europa League final, becoming the first player since Jupp Heynckes for Gladbach in 1975 to score a hat-trick in the single-match format.

Lookman achieved this feat in the 2023–24 Europa League final, playing for Atalanta against Bayer Leverkusen to become the first African player. Lookman also broke the record for the fastest two goals scored by one player in the Europa League final, doing so within 26 minutes. This surpassed Joseph Keegan’s record of 32 minutes in the 1973 UEFA Cup Final against Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang also set a record, breaking Henrik Larsson’s mark for most goals scored in the Europa League’s group stages and finals. Aubameyang has scored 34 goals, moving him up to second place overall, with 37 goals scored when including qualifying rounds.

Italy celebrated a successful season, breaking their tie with England to become the nation with the second-most Europa League trophies, winning 10 times. Spain holds the top spot with 14 championships. Italy also joined Spain, England, and Germany as the only nations with 5 individual clubs winning the Europa League.
