Game 5: Mavericks vs. Timberwolves
The Dallas Mavericks dominated the Minnesota Timberwolves, winning 124-103 in Game 5 of the playoff series. The Mavericks came out strong, scoring 35 points in the first quarter and setting the tone for the game.
The Timberwolves struggled to keep up, scoring 19 points in the first quarter and trailing by 16 points. In the second quarter, the Timberwolves showed some improvement, scoring 21 points, but the Mavericks still outscored them 34-21, extending their lead to 23 points.The third quarter was the Timberwolves’ best, scoring 33 points and cutting the Mavericks’ lead to 17 points.
However, the Mavericks regained control in the fourth quarter, scoring 27 points and securing a 21-point victory.

Kyrie Irving added 24 points and 6 assists for the Mavericks.
With 28 points apiece, Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns tried their hardest to swing the balance in the Wolves’ favour, but their play-off run came to an end here. Although Edwards scored more than 25 points for the fifteenth time in his 27 playoff games, this loss may raise more concerns about their offensive capabilities.
Anthony Edwards scored 32 points for the Timberwolves, but struggled with 7 turnovers.
Karl-Anthony Towns had 24 points and 10 rebounds for the Timberwolves.
The Mavericks shot 52.4% from the field and 43.8% from three-point range.The Timberwolves shot 44.4% from the field and 35.7% from three-point range. The Mavericks outrebounded the Timberwolves 47-38.
The Mavericks lead the series 4-1, with a chance to close out the series in Game 6.
The Timberwolves face elimination, needing a win in Game 6 to force a Game 7. The Dallas Mavericks will be facing the Boston Celtics in the 2024 NBA Finals, which will start on June 6.
