Rublev, Korda, Rinderknech enter quarter finals

The National Bank Open on Saturday was jam-packed with activity, including several matches that were postponed due to Friday’s terrible storm.

First off, American Sebastian Korda defeated native Taylor Fritz 6-4, 7-6(4) in Montreal to reach the last eight.

Korda earned seven aces, seventy-four percent of his second serve points, and 24 winners throughout his straight set triumph. It took him one hour and forty-seven minutes to get ahead.

Later in the day, Korda who captured the greatest title of his professional career in Washington, D.C. last week will take on No. 6 seed Casper Ruud.

Arthur Rinderknech advanced to the round of 16 after defeating Flavio Cobolli 6-3, 6-2, among the other winners on Saturday.

Last week, Cobolli advanced to the Washington finals but was defeated by Korda. In his debut fight, the Italian upset Felix Auger-Aliassime, a hometown favorite.

Alejandro Davidovich retires 0-3 down in the third set to Matteo Arnaldi, who reaches the Quarter Finals in Montreal.

Matteo Arnaldi will next face  Kei Nishikori tonight for a place in the semifinals.

Kei Nishikori defeated Nuno Borges 6-3, 6-4 to reach the Quarter Finals in Montreal his first Masters 1000 Quarter Finals since Rome in 2019.

Kei Nishikori is the second worst ever ranked player to reach a Masters 1000 QF after Darren Cahill in Indian Wells 1994.

Andrey Rublev who is ranked fifth at the ATP Rankings, easily advanced to the quarterfinals by defeating American Brandon Nakashima 6-2, 6-2.

Rublev will be waiting for the winner of Chilean Alejandro Tabilo or top-seeded Jannik Sinner.
