Chelsea have announced the signing of Portuguese attacker Pedro Neto from English premier league side Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The 24-year-old Portuguese winger who made an impression in the just concluded Euros for Portugal off the bench, joined the blues on a seven years contract.

The transfer was made officially during Chelsea’s encounter with Italian serie A champions Inter Milan at Stanford bridge which ended in a 1-1 draw on Sunday’s sunny afternoon.

“Chelsea is delighted to announce the signing of Portugal international Pedro Neto from Wolverhampton Wanderers,” Chelsea posted on their official website.

“Pedro has signed a seven-year contract and will begin training with his new teammates at Cobham in the coming days.”

“I feel really grateful to have joined this club. I have worked really hard in my career to be here and I’m looking forward to getting on the pitch with this shirt,”  Neto said in his first interview as a Chelsea player.

According to Italian football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the deal for Pedro Neto is worth 60 million euros plus 3 million euros in add-ons from Wolves on a six years contract plus option for further season.

Pedro Neto has been a shinning star since his arrival in the English premier League. He completed a transfer to Wolves from childhood club Braga in August 2019.

Neto not only scored but also set up a goal on his debut in a 4-0 victory over Pyunik in the third qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League, swiftly becoming a mainstay in Wolves’ attack.

Pedro eventually played 135 games for the team, and in his 20 Premier League appearances last season, he contributed to 11 goals.

He will hope to kick-start his Chelsea career in flying colours next weekend when they host English premier league champions Manchester City at Stanford bridge on Matchday one.
