Spanish La liga side Atlético Madrid, have completed the signing of Julian Alvarez from Manchester City on a long term deal.

The 24-year-old attacker who was part of the Argentine squad that won the FIFA world cup in Qatar in 2022, joined Atlético Madrid on a six year contract.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the 11-time La Liga champions signed Julián Álvarez for a 75 million euros fixed fee and 20 million euros in add-ons to Man City after they invested 14 million pounds to sign Julián from River Plate three years ago.

Julian Alvarez who won the treble at Manchester City in his debut seasons in Europe after leaving home giants River plate in 2022, will link up with former Argentina international and head coach of Atlético Madrid Diego Simeone alongside five players from his nation, Argentina.

Announcing his departure, Julian Alvarez took to his official social media channels to thank the Manchester city for their love and support towards him as he moves to spain for more game time as he can only be a deputy for Premier League’s record goalscorer Erling Haaland.

“Today I say goodbye to this amazing club, with a lot of emotion. These have been two very special years. During this time, I have grown and learnt a lot – both as a player and as a person. He posted on Instagram.

“To the directors and the technical staff, thank you for your confidence and support. Your teachings and vision have helped me to develop so much.

“To my teammates, thank you for every moment we have shared, for the effort and dedication in every training session and every match. I have learnt a lot from each and every one of you and I remain with memories and friendships that will last forever,” He concluded.

In 2022, Julián Álvarez became the youngest ever player to win the Champions League, English Premier League and the FIFA World Cup. He will wear the number 19 jersey for his new club ahead of 2024/2025 campaign.
