Liverpool won Ipswich 2-0 to begin their 2024/25 Premier League campaign on a winning note.
Diego Jota and Mohamed Salah’s second half goals was the difference in the game as Arne Slot began his era with a comfortable triumph at Portman Road.
The goals came in quick succession as Salah assisted Jota’s opener before getting on the score sheet himself to seal the win.
Ipswich showed glimpses of impressive performance in the first half of their first Premier League match since 2002, but Liverpool got the better of them in the second half.
Slot’s side showed no sign of slipping up from there as they kept putting pressure on the Tractor Boys.
Speaking after the game, Arne Slot praised his team second half performance, claiming they were too tough for their opponent to handle.
He also showered praises on star striker, Salah, while also giving credits to his midfielders for controlling the game.
Meanwhile, Kieran McKenna’s team could not make the most of their early chances and ultimately paid the price.
They will be facing another hot challenge on gameweek two as they battle reigning champion, Manchester City, at Etihad.
Liverpool will continue their campaign as they welcome Brentford at Anfield for their second game.
