When Oyedayo Oyeniran received the call from Betcorrect, receiving an all-expense-paid trip to attend the AFCON final in Abidjan as a birthday present would have been the last thing on his mind.

While narrating his three-night and four-day trip to Abidjan, Oyeniran told Journalists present on Friday, February 16th, at the media conversation organised by Betcorrect at the Turaka Rooftop Restaurant, Ebonylife Place, Victoria Island, that at first, he thought it was a scam, only for him to find himself at the airport and hours later lodged in a seven-star hotel in Abidjan. 

“Before I received a call a day after my birthday informing me that I was one of the fortunate applicants chosen to travel to the AFCON final, I was of the belief that they already knew who would win the offer when I applied.”

Just as Oyeniran emphasised, Adjaino Runkewe, another winner based in Warri, said he had to call repeatedly before boarding a bus from Delta State to Lagos to be sure it wasn’t one of the scammers’ gimmicks. 

Runkewe and Oyeniran would have been ecstatic, but regrettably, Nigeria fell to host Ivory Coast 2-1 in the championship match. Both men said that the Ivorian audience, which turned out in large numbers to support their country, had a role in the triumph.

“Both winners weren’t regular punters on the betting platform. Oyelakin had only three entries, while Runkewe won the offer via his one-time action as well.

The mode of selection was random,” as stated by Adewale Adejuwon, the head of marketing at Betcorrect while discussing the transparency of the selection process.

  How it all started 

A new betting company in Nigeria that has only stayed six months in the country, Betcorrect, announced an all-expenses promo offer for its customers before the final of the AFCON, tasking its customers to register with only #1000. 

The promotion played out until February 9; Oyeniran and Runkewe, the two victors, took home the top prize.

Adewale Adejuwon, the head of marketing for Betcorrect told journalists during the media parley, that the purpose of the concept was to connect with their target audience and create an awesome experience for customers. 

He also added that the betting company was the first to have achieved such a feat by sending “their customers to watch an AFCON final.”

Our focus is to increase personal experiences for clients 

The company is planning to boost its clients’ personal experiences, which will encompass more all-expenses vacations, according to Managing Director Adriano Amadei, as Oyeniran and Runkewe set the pace as the first pair of winners of the Betcorrect promo.

“For us what we tried to create in the Nigerian market is a personalised experience. We also extend such experience with promotions to show that by being a client of Betcorrect, you never know what promotion you can qualify for.

AFCON is just a start going forward, we will start sending people to Premier League games, to go watch Arsenal’s game and other big competitions.”

Adriano, while highlighting the reasons they came to the Nigerian market, said the idea of Betcorrect is to solve several existing problems that punters have encountered on different platforms.

The Italian buttressed that the website being user-friendly also helps to synchronize the interests of their customers using artificial intelligence without facing the hurdles of searching for their betting options. 

“The Nigerian market is one of the most competitive, but we have a unique product that we believe is very good using AI for a personalized experience. Whatever you see on our website is personalized on your behaviour, just like you use YouTube or Netflix, It recognises everything or selections you are interested in.”

While discussing their intervention in the Nigerian market in the last six months, Adriano shared positive insights about the wide coverage they have reached in the limited duration. 

“We have only been around for six months, the response we have had as regards our product has been very positive. The great thing is we have had so much feedback, in fact, last month our technical team focusing on all the technical roadmap to implement all these features and functionalities in the market which will differentiate us and all our competitors.”

The 2023 AFCON is still memorable

“Although AFCON has ended, the experiences are still quite memorable in our minds.” were the words of the duo Oyeniran and Runkewe as they appreciated the company.
