Confederation of African Football (CAF) president Patrice Motsepe affirms that nearly two billion global viewers have tuned in to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) since its kickoff on January 13

With 50 matches played to date, the Ivory Coast-hosted tournament has garnered widespread allure and acceptance from football enthusiasts worldwide for its exceptional quality of play and officiating.

Motsepe, speaking at a press briefing on Friday, hailed this accomplishment as a source of pride for Africans and pledged improvements at the 2025 edition poised to be hosted by Morocco

“We have had close to two billion people watching AFCON globally. We should be proud as Africans and the next one will be even better,” Motsepe said yesterday as reported by Complete Sports

He added: “The success of Africa depends upon Africa working together, trading together, and in football, countries competing and playing together.
