Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr were beaten 2-1 at home by Al Qadsiah, despite taking the lead.
Ronaldo opened the scoring in the 32nd minute, reacting fast to some suspect goalkeeping and slamming home from close range.
However, the lead did not last long as Julián Quiñones levelled five minutes later. The Columbian chested down a looping cross from the left byline before finishing smartly.
Al-Nassr held on to the possession but were unable to take advantage and convert their chances.
They were punished in the second half as an unmarked Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang gave the visitors the lead.
The former Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund star sent home Quinones’ brilliant assist, having controlled a cross at the far post and directed it back across goal.
Ronaldo and his teammates worked hard to force an equaliser but were unable to breach Koen Casteels’ net.
The defeat could cause a heavy blow to their league-title challenge as they are six points behind leaders and reigning champions Al Hilal.
Al Qadsiah move fifth with the win, level on points with Al Nassr and Al Shabab.
