Allegri applauds Juve’s “excellent response” in remarkable comeback against Salernitana

Massimiliano Allegri has applauded Juventus’ delightful 6-1 comeback against Salernitana in the Coppa Italia Round of 16 last night.

Juventus went down as early as the first minute last before scoring an equalizer in the 12th minute through Fabio Miretti. The Old Lady then took the lead in the 35th minute via Andrea Cambiaso’s volley before going on a rampage that dumped the visiting team out of the competition in the second half.

“We conceded an unexpected goal, the team’s reaction was good. We had never managed to overturn a game, it’s a good sign, it means we’re fine,” Allegri told Sport Mediaset via TMW post-match.

The Italian added: “Excellent responses from everyone, we have grown. Tonight, we played better, we ran forward a lot, creating many passing lines. We need to be clearer in the last pass, and raise the percentage of accurate passes.

 “We had to play a game with great attention, on Sunday we’ll find a different team. We have to enjoy this victory but from tomorrow we have to think about Sunday.”

On the Bianconeri’s aim for the season, Allegri replied: “We have to get to the top four, the next Champions League will be completely different and we have to respect the schedule, otherwise it’s a mess.”

The triumph at the Allianz Stadium last night earned Juventus a Coppa Italia quarter-final clash against Frosinone on January 11, where the victor will face the winner between Lazio–Roma in the semi-finals.
