Amorim  to face Postecoglou in December’s Carabao Cup quarterfinal 

Ruben Amorim will be facing Ange Postecoglou during the Carabao Cup quarter-final in December. Amorim’s transfer deal is turning positive as the United board has made a statement about him joining the Red Devils during the international break in November.

Manchester United defeated Leicester City on Wednesday night 5-2 under interim manager, Ruud van Nisterooly whose tenure as a caretaker coach ends a week before the international break against Leicester City in the EPL.

United, who were winners of the tournament in 2023, will play Spurs — who eliminated Manchester City 2-1 in the last 16 on Wednesday evening and it might be a quick start for Amorim to get closer in winning a silverware. Tottenham’s last major trophy was the 2008 EFL Cup and Postecoglou is in his second season without a sign of a silverware.

Meanwhile, holders Liverpool will travel to Southampton who defeated Championship side Stoke City on Tuesday night. The south coast club defeated Liverpool at the semi-final stage in the 2017 tournament.

Elsewhere, there is a London derby between Arsenal and Crystal Palace at the Emirates, while 2023 finalists Newcastle United — who defeated Chelsea 2-0 on Wednesday — play host to Brentford.
