Ancelloti delighted with Madrid’s performance at the Coliseum

Real Madrid’s gaffer Carlo Ancelotti, has expressed his delight with his team’s sublime 2-0 victory over Getafe at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez yesterday night.

Two goals from Joselu Mato in both halves of the encounter ensured the Los Blancos carted away all three points, in what Ancelloti has described as an uneasy task, although his team “fought, battled and handled the game very well.”

“The referee gave me a card and didn’t give a penalty. I don’t want to talk about that, I want to talk about the game because we were great. We’re very happy,” the 63-year-old said post-match.

“We fought and battled and we handled the game very well, which wasn’t easy. Getafe put in a lot of crosses. In the first half, Tchouameni helped us with the aerial balls.

“In the second half, Camavinga also did his job and we changed the system a bit to control the flanks. We played deeper and taking the lead in the game allowed us to play more in transition.

“If we win the next two games we would have six more points on the table and it would be good. But the season is long. Today the team was on fire from the first minute to the last. Now we have to prepare for the derby.

Ancelloti on Joselu’s performance

With 12 goals and four assists across all competition for Madrid this season, Carlo has described the Spaniard’s performance as nothing short of spectacular.

“Joselu is doing everything he needs to do to stay. He’s doing spectacularly. It’s a blessing to have a striker of this quality, he said.

“He’s always ready from the start, also when he comes into games he always helps the team. He is a very humble person and we’re delighted with him,” he said.

Up next for Carlo Ancelotti and his men will be the Madrid Derby at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu on February 4th.
