Carlo Ancelloti has expressed confidence in his team ahead of the top-of-the-table clash between Real Madrid and Girona at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu tomorrow, February 10, 2024.

Ancelloti spoke to the press today, where he also envisaged a tough game against a Girona side that currently sits second on the table, with 56 points, two behind the Los Blancos who’s on 58 points from 23 games.

“It will be a demanding match against a team that has done better than everyone else, including Real Madrid,” the ex-Everton manager said.

“It’s going to be tough, they’re doing very well. We have a lot of respect for them. We are confident of winning again after drawing.”

The Real Madrid’s gaffer doesn’t share the sentiment that tomorrow’s winner will eventually go on to win the league.

His words: “Whoever wins tomorrow will gain the advantage, but there is still a long way to go in the league. Both teams are very well positioned and tomorrow’s game won’t decide the league but who will have an advantage over the others. I don’t think the league will be decided tomorrow no matter what happens.

“Both teams have high points and the sooner we get to 80 points, the sooner we can win the league. You don’t win the league with 80 points, but if you get close as soon as possible, you’re very close.”

Girona’s only league defeat this season so far has been against Real Madrid on September 30, whereas Madrid remains unbeaten in La Liga since their 3-1 loss to Atletico Madrid on September 24. The Blanquivermells were described as Ancelotti as Madrid’s biggest rival of the season.

Tomorrow’s match is slated for 6:30 pm (WAT).
