The PFA Premier League Team of the Year has been announced with Arsenal dominating the star-studded XI.
Mikel Arteta’s Gunners had five players in the team, with Man City dominating also with four players, while Liverpool and Aston Villa had one each.
The team included Arsenal loanee David Raya who joined on a permanent basis from Brentford this summer to claim the number one position.
Defensive duo William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes were selected and was joined by Kyle Walker and Virgil Van Dijk.
in the midfield, Manchester City’s Rodri was paired alongside Arsenal’s Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard to form the trio.
Arsenal had no players on the attack as Erling Haaland, Phil Foden and Ollie Watkins made the count.
Notable facts and exemptions;
Haaland makes his way into the PFA Premier League Team of the Year for the second successive campaign.
It’s the first time Foden and Watkins have been picked in the PFA XI, both notching 19 goals a piece.
Kevin de Bruyne failed to make the best starting side for the first time since 2019, due to injury although the Belgian still managed 10 assists and four goals in 21 domestic appearances.
Chelsea superstar Palmer failed to get the nod in the XI despite winning the Young Player of the Year award.
While Bukayo Saka failed to make it after his form somewhat dropped off towards the end of last season.
