Arsenal remain determined to sign Ivan Toney from Brentford in January, but they have to deal with a couple of stumbling blocks to seal the deal. The Gunners have been after the Bees forward for some time but have been forced to wait until January to sign him due to the eight-month ban he was handed in May for violating betting rules.

Arsenal are ready to make a move for Toney, but they would have to pay around £80 million ($102m) to convince Brentford to sell reports claim that the Premier League’s Financial Fair Play rules make that a difficult transfer to pull off. Arsenal was also almost at their FFP cap during the summer transfer window, which complicates any transactions in January.

Toney, who has scored 32 goals for Brentford in 66 Premier League games, is not only attacker they have been considering. However, Victor Osimhen, an alternative, will cost even more to sign than Toney because he recently agreed to a new deal that will keep him at Napoli through 2026.

In order to give the Gunners the best chance of winning the Premier League, head coach Mikel Arteta needs to add depth to a few spots. The Spaniard has prioritized the forward because of his team’s poor goal scoring record. He also has his sights set on a new midfielder and two full-backs. In order to avoid such mistakes like the 2-0 loss at home against West Ham on Thursday night, Arteta will be hoping to bring in new players soon. The north London squad is currently two points behind Liverpool in the Premier League.
