Gian Piero Gasperini have cited the possible payment that Atalanta would get from Manchester United if Rasmus Hojlund would be ransferred there. While Atalanta wants €70 million (£60 million/$78 million) for the 20-year-old attacker, the Red Devils and the Serie A club have not yet reached an agreement on a transfer cost.
Gasperini suggested La Dea will try to obtain “€80m, 90m, 100m” since the market value fluctuates, but he also hinted the club could seek much more.
He said: “I don’t know if he’s leaving, the market is unpredictable.I hope for the club they €80, 90, 100 million. The market value changes,”
Hojlund have received high praises from Gasperini, who also recognized his enormous potential and stated that he thinks the Dane has what it takes to become one of the strongest strikers in the world. To continue his talent development, the coach advised Hojlund to play another season with Atalanta.
On being asked if Hojlund should continue at Atalanta for one more season he said, “I think so, then after that it’s difficult here too. He undoubtedly has great talent, but also great room for improvement. These things are visible in both senses, he must work to improve because he has the characteristics to become one of the strongest strikers in the world. But among the young emerging players in his role, if not the best, he is among the best in Europe.’”
After concluding the transfer of Andre Onana from Inter, Manchester United will intensify talks with Atalanta in their pursuit of Hojlund. However, despite having already agreed upon personal terms with the player, the Italian club only wants to pay cash for the 20-year-old, which might present a problem for the Premier League club.
