Los Rojiblancos ended their 18-year wait for an away league victory against the Catalans as substitute Alexander Sorloth tapped home a dramatic 96th minute clincher.
Barca ended the first half ahead with Pedri’s goal but fell and conceded two goals in the second interval.
The hosts went ahead in the 30th minute as Pedri’s composed finished gave them a deserved lead in front of the home fans.
Meanwhile, on the restart of the second half, Barcelona wasted several chances to increase the lead.
However, they were made to pay for their missed as Rodrigo De Paul calmly steered home to level the game, on the hour mark.
The game looked set to be ending in a tight draw, as Jan Oblak made a string of key saves.
Howbeit, Sorloth’s 96th minute act, sent the away fans into a wild roar, including Diego Simeone, who is just having his first away victory over the Blaugranas.
Atletico are now three points clear of Barcelona, still with a game on hand.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid could also push Hansi Flick’s side to third position, should they beat Sevilla.
