Barcelona fell to a disappointing 2-1 loss to Las Palmas, a day after their 125th anniversary celebrations.
The Catalans dominated the game from the beginning but failed to gather all three points, as they fell behind twice to lose to a 14th-placed Las Palmas at the Nou Camp.
Both sides played a goalless first-half draw, with the hosts having more chances and the best convertible ones.
Raphinha almost gave Barca the lead before the interval, as he crashed an effort against the crossbar after working his way into the penalty area.
However, the visitors provided a shocker, five minutes into the second half, as they broke the deadlock.
Sandro Ramirez, an ex-Barca player, haunted his former club with a well-taken strike from a lovely counterattack to give Las Palmas the lead.
The Blaugrana equalised after the hour mark, as Raphinha cut inside and found the bottom corner with a rasping effort.
However, the visitors extended the lead five minutes later as Fábio Silva was sent clear by Kirian Rodríguez before bundling the ball past a rooted Iñaki Peña.
Jasper Cillessen, another former Barcelona player, conspired against them as he was excellent in goal to deny any comeback for the hosts.
The Dutchman palmed away a dipping free kick from Raphinha in the closing stages.
The loss means Real Madrid, who have a game in hand, can now move to within one point of their archrivals with a win over Getafe on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Hansi Flick’s side are without a league win in three La Liga games. They lost to Real Sociedad, and slipped to a draw against Celta Vigo, before losing now to Las Palmas.
Barca, however, is still top of the league, with 34 points, four ahead of Madrid, who are yet to play, and also have a game in hand.
