Barcelona Departure Sees Sergio Busquets Reunite With Lionel Messi At Inter Miami

Inter Miami has officially announced the signing of Sergio Busquets as a free agent.

The 34-year-old midfielder, who previously played for Barcelona and Spain, will now reunite with his former teammate Lionel Messi at the Major League Soccer club, after choosing not to renew his contract with Barcelona after an incredible 18-year spell at Camp Nou.

To confirm the news, Inter Miami shared a video on Twitter featuring praises from renowned figures such as Pep Guardiola, Xavi Hernandez, Luka Modric, and Messi himself, expressing admiration for Busquets.

Having served as the captain of Barcelona and retired from international duty last year, Busquets accumulated an impressive record of over 700 appearances for the Spanish champions.

Throughout his illustrious career in Europe, he secured nine La Liga titles, seven Copa del Rey titles, three Champions League trophies, and three Club World Cups.

Although there were offers from Saudi Arabian clubs Al Hilal and Al Nassr, Busquets ultimately opted for a move to Inter Miami — favouring the MLS experience and also the opportunity to play alongside Leo.
