Bellingham and Mbappe fires Real Madrid to victory over Getafe

Real Madrid defeated Getafe 2-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu, to close the LaLiga gap to just one point behind Barcelona.

First-half goals from Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappe helped Madrid secure all three points against Getafe.

Earning a penalty in the 30th minute, both players debated over who would take the penalty before the Englishman’s fake shot made things 1-0.

The former Borussia Dortmund man returned the favour, setting up Mbappe on the left wing. The Frenchman struck from well outside the box off the right post to make it 2-0.

Mbappe tried to double his name on the scoresheet but was unable, as he missed four chances. The former Paris Saint-Germain star also missed an open net after rounding goalkeeper David Soria.

Despite been outplayed in possession, Getafe also registered a handful of efforts, but fell short. The visitors also had two chances hit the woodwork.

However, the first-half performance was inevitably enough for Real Madrid to earn all three points. They are now one point behind Barcelona, with a game in hand.

Meanwhile, Getafe are just outside the relegation zone in 17th.
