Nigeria’s Super Eagles striker, Victor Boniface, scored two goals as Bayer Leverkusen secured a 4-1 victory over Hoffeinheim. It shows the Nigerian striker has put his lackluster performances at the AFCON qualifiers behind him.

Playing away from home, Leverkusen took control of the game from the early stage of the first half. Martin Terrier scored the opening goal for Leverkusen, courtesy of a precise assist from Boniface.

Boniface made it 2-0 in the 30th minute as he continued to make his mark in the game. Displaying exceptional skill inside the box, he left the Hoffenheim goalkeeper, Baumann, stranded and doubled Leverkusen’s lead with a fantastic finish.

Mergim Berisha pulled one back for Hoffenheim to reduce the deficit before the half break.

However, Xabi Alonso’s boys increased the lead as Leverkusen was awarded a penalty in the 71st minute after a VAR review. Florian Wirtz stepped up and calmly converted the penalty to make it 3-1.

Boniface completed his brace in the 76th minute to secure a 4-1 victory over Hoffenheim.
