Bournemouth, led by a hat-trick from Justin Kluivert, secured an impressive victory over New castle United. His exceptional performance included a stunning long-range shot for his third goal of the match.
Newcastle United missed the chance to set a new club record for consecutive wins, instead delivering one of their poorest performances in months.
Bournemouth outperformed Newcastle in every area, moving just one point behind Eddie Howe’s side in the standings. From the start, they applied constant pressure, forcing Newcastle into numerous mistakes.
Dan Burn and Lewis Hall struggled significantly, with Hall having one of his worst games, being overrun by David Brooks. Tino Livramento on the right also faced difficulties against Antoine Semenyo, who was threatening. Bournemouth opened the scoring after Jacob Murphy failed to track Kluivert’s run, leaving him unmarked.
The visitors were sharper and quicker, while Newcastle’s players appeared fatigued, struggling after a quick turnaround from their previous match against Wolves. Newcastle’s inability to maintain possession hampered their efforts, and even after Bruno Guimaraes equalized with a header, they remained uninspired.
A critical error came when Burn passed to Bruno under pressure. After being dispossessed by Semenyo, Kluivert scored with a simple finish that slipped past Martin Dubravka. Bournemouth nearly scored again early in the second half through Dango Ouattara, but the goal was disallowed after a scramble in the box.
Brooks came close to adding a third, but Dubravka managed to block his back heel attempt. Throughout the match, Newcastle’s front three—Anthony Gordon, Alexander Isak, and Jacob Murphy—were largely ineffective.
Bournemouth sealed the victory with a fourth goal from Milos Kerkez, while Newcastle’s defense allowed it to happen without much resistance.
