Brentford manager Thomas Frank has dropped transfer update regarding Ivan Toney. When the transfer market reopens in January, there have been rumors linking the 27-year-old with both Chelsea and Arsenal.
Frank was replying to those rumors. He also stated that the Bees would be ready for any situation, despite his refusal to comment particularly on Toney. Speaking to the press ahead of Wednesday night’s Carabao Cup game against Arsenal, Frank was asked about the possibility of Toney departing in the next transfer window.
He said: “In January? I don’t know. The only thing I’m focusing on is the game tomorrow. Of course you know we are preparing for transfer windows ahead. So we are looking not only at strikers options or full backs. We are fully prepared for any position if something should happen.”
When Toney was found guilty of breaking FA betting rules and given an eight-month ban that expires in January, his extraordinary journey from the lower divisions to the Premier League and England squad came to an abrupt end. Both Chelsea and Arsenal continue to pursue the player who scored 20 Premier League goals last season despite the suspension.
Toney has been permitted to rejoin his teammates in training as they get ready for Wednesday night’s Carabao Cup match against Arsenal after serving the first part of a suspension that forbade any football-related activity.
