Following Manchester United’s disappointing UCL loss away FC Copenhagen yesterday, the club’s captain Bruno Fernandes, has insisted that his team gave their all, despite playing through with a red card.

The Red Devils who had the upper hand in the opening minutes of the encounter scored two goals under 30 minutes through Rasmus Hojlund but suffered a setback after Marcus Rashford was awarded a controversial straight red card in the 42nd minute, which led to the home side equalizing before the end of the half.

Although Bruno restored United’s lead from the spot 24 minutes into the second half, scored two late goals in the 83rd and 87th minute to completely humiliate United and condemn them to the last on the log.

Speaking to MUTV post-match, the 29-year-old said: “It’s a disappointment, obviously.

“I think for everything we did in the game, we could, and should, have got something from the game.

“It’s difficult at the moment, obviously the mood is not the best because we’ve fought so hard with 10 men that even from then, it was playing against a team that plays really good on the ball and apart from that many decisions were against us.

“Today was a tough day, but I think the team effort was good, we tried. We could have done some things better but it was difficult for us from 30 minutes on, playing with one player less.”

Bruno continued: “We understood that we could get something from the game, we could win the game there, but it’s difficult to play, it’s so long playing with 10 men.

“And in some moments, they will get spaces because you’re running behind the ball because you’re trying to get into everywhere, with every player, and it’s difficult to cover so much space. They got their two goals to win the game.”
