Brazilian midfielder Bruno Guimaraes has renewed his commitment to Newcastle United, signing a new five-year contract with the club.

Guimaraes who joined the club from Lyon back in 2022 has notched up 67 appearances in all competitions for the Magpies, scoring 11 goals and helping the club return to the UEFA Champions League

The 25-year-old who was also instrumental to Newcastle’s Carabao Cup run into the final last season, before eventually losing to Manchester United couldn’t contain his delight at extending his stay at St. James’ Park, a place where the fans have made him feel at home

“I’m absolutely delighted. The fans have made me feel at home since my first day here and I feel so loved in my life,” Bruno Guimaraes told NUFC TV

He continued: “I’m so happy here. It’s a place that is so comfortable to be and I hope to keep making the supporters happy and helping the team do well. That’s my goal because there are no words to describe how happy I am to be here

“I remember in my first interview, I said I wanted to play for this club in the Champions League and now it’s happening. We are doing so well and when I look around the pitch at my team-mates, I am so proud of them all. I’m proud of everyone; the team, the staff, the owners and the fans

“The city believes again and it’s unbelievable what we have done for the team. I hope that this can continue. It’s amazing what has happened in my life in the last two years.

Since making his Premier League debut in February 2022, Bruno Guimaraes is the only player in the competition to have won 300+ duels, 100+ duels, made 300+ ball recoveries and 100+ tackles, according to Squawka Football.

There’s a £100m release clause in the Brazilian’s new contract.
