McCollum finished the game with 25 points, daggering the Bucks’ hopes of a comeback with a long-range three-pointer. This is a club that other teams in the West will want to avoid if McCollum plays as he did against the Bucks, Zion stays healthy, and second-leading scorer Brandon Ingram returns in time for the playoffs.

The Pelicans are still afloat above the Play-In place and are aiming for a top four finish to guarantee home court advantage in the opening round. In the West, it’s probably going to come down to the wire, and the Bucks’ defeat adds a little intrigue to the competition for second place.

Zion was observed performing numerous tasks that Giannis performs every evening. The Pelicans player is reportedly eating healthily and dropping weight in New Orleans, which is ideal for the team given what’s coming up. On a night when he faced off against one of the league’s top players, Zion finished with 28, 5, and 2. Once Giannis trimmed the advantage to three points with ease, Trey Murphy responded by hitting back-to-back three-pointers to defuse the situation and stop the Bucks’ momentum.

Zion and company stretched their lead to 18 out of the halftime break, but ran into a brick wall as Giannis flicked the switch and turned into a superhero. He had 20 straight points for MIL in the third quarter alone but it wasn’t enough to down the Pelicans.

You can tell the Pelicans are rolling when Jonas Valanciunas is hitting three balls. In the victory, the big man recorded 17 points and 10 rebounds, and his outside shooting resembled that of Brook Lopez more than Brook Lopez did. Herb Jones has a lot of momentum for the Defensive First-Team, and his performance against the Bucks has further strengthened his position. In addition to his 11 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 steals, he also had 3 blocks.

With an eye towards the Los Angeles Clippers in the fourth round, the New Orleans Pelicans emerged victorious against the Milwaukee Bucks to maintain their lead over the group of Play-In teams. Leading the way in the Smoothie King Centre victory, 107-100, were Zion Williamson and CJ McCollum.

Zion wasted no time in starting a game in which he was certain to see plenty of Giannis Antetokounmpo. They both had fantastic beginnings, exchanging buckets early on and establishing the mood for the evening.
