Cavaliers center Jarrett Allen suffered a right-hand injury during the team’s 142-105 rout of the New York Knicks on Friday night. The injury occurred in the first half, and although Allen played a few minutes in the second half, he eventually exited the game and did not return.
Initial X-rays were negative, which is a positive sign, but Allen is still scheduled to undergo an MRI on Saturday to further assess the injury. Coach Kenny Atkinson mentioned that Allen told him the hand was “really bothering” him, and he wouldn’t be able to finish the game.
This injury comes at a crucial time for the Cavaliers, who are currently the top team in the league with a 46-10 record. Allen’s absence could be felt, especially given his importance to the team’s defense and rebounding.
The Cavaliers are expected to host the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday, and it remains to be seen whether Allen will be available to play.
