Cole Palmer’s goal helped secure another win at Stamford Bridge as Enzo Maresca’s side get back to winning ways in the Premier League.

During the match, Chelsea dominated early, as Nicolas Jackson scored in the first 20 minutes. However, Alexander Isak equalized for Newcastle in the 32nd minute.

In the second half, Chelsea quickly regained the lead when Cole Palmer scored just two minutes in. Commenting on the goal, former Arsenal player Alan Smith said

“Anything involving Cole Palmer in the final third spells danger. Palmer can do no wrong! But the goalkeeper shouldn’t have been beaten there.”

As a result of their 2-1 win against Newcastle, Chelsea has moved up to fourth place in the Premier League table ahead of Arsenal’s match against Liverpool.

The Blues will be facing Newcastle again in midweek in the Carabao Cup before they travel to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United next weekend.

Chelsea aimed to recover from a 2-1 loss to Liverpool at Anfield the previous weekend, while Newcastle also sought a comeback after losing to Brighton and Hove Albion.

Before the match, it was noted that Chelsea set a unique Premier League record. Chelsea is the first team to play their opening eight matches without a single player over the age of 27.

Additionally, Opta reported that Chelsea’s starting lineup against Newcastle was their second-youngest in Premier League history.

They posted on social media, “For the game against Newcastle today, Chelsea (23y 89days) have named their second-youngest starting XI in a Premier League match, with an average age of 23 years, 89 days.”
