Manchester United and Chelsea have finally found a common ground in the transfer of Mason Mount, as the Blues finally agrees to sell the midfielder to their rival for a fee around the region of £60m, plus add-ons.
It was reported here last week that Chelsea rejected United’s third bid worth £55m for the Three Lions star, however, both parties having a face-to-face discussion appears to have finally yielded a positive conclusion for the player and the clubs.
Mount has been permitted to finalize his move to Old Trafford, and will sign a 5-year contract until June 2028, with an option for a further year — on a weekly salary of 250,000 pounds, up to 300,000 pounds, with bonuses.
The 24-year-old who started his professional career at Chelsea has made 195 appearances for the club ever since his debut in 2017, scoring 33 goals.
Mount struggled with injuries last season, and it appeared he was done at Stamford Bridge, after refusing to extend his contract with the club and ready to run down the remaining 12 months left on his contract.
According to diverse reports, Arsenal and Liverpool had also shown an interest in the England international, but United have made the strongest push and will now parade the midfielder come next season.
Mount’s announcement as a United player is expected to be delayed a bit because he is currently on vacation.
