AC Milan thrashed Sassuolo 6-1 to reach the quarter-finals of the Coppa Italia, as Samuel Chukwueze scored twice at the San Siro.

The last-16 clash seemed already over as Milan were already up by four goals. Chukwueze scored a brace, along with goals from Tijjani Reijnders and Rafael Leao.

Davide Calabria added the fifth, with Samuele Mulattieri getting a consolation three minutes later, before Tammy Abraham rounded off the win in the 61st minute.

Chukwueze opened the scoring in the 12th minute when a Reijnders put him through one-on-one with Giacomo Satalino. The Nigerian international hit the upright with his first effort before tapping in the rebound.

Reijnders got the second five minutes later as drilled home from outside the area.

Chukwueze got his brace in the 21st minute after a lay-off from Abraham, as he curled the ball into the net.

AC Milan sent the contest beyond hope in the 23rd minute courtesy of Leao’s goal. The Portuguese winger received a no-look pass from Ruben Loftus-Cheek to make it 4-0.

Milan resumed the second interval on the same note as they made it 5-0. Christian Pulisic’s lofted cross bounced off the post and Calabria reacted quickest to convert.

Sassuolo got their consolation as Mulattieri’s effort squirmed under Lorenzo Torriani.

However, AC Milan added more salt to the sour as they rounded off the tie with the sixth goal with Abraham’s name on the scoresheet.
