Manchester City secured a crucial 2-0 victory over a determined Everton side at Goodison Park in today’s Premier League clash.

The match remained tightly contested for most of the time, with Everton putting up a defensive display and even creating some chances. However, City’s persistence and their substitutes ultimately proved to be the difference as the game wore on.

The deadlock was finally broken late in the 84th minute by Nico O’Reilly, who continued his impressive run of form by ghosting in at the back post to convert a low cross. This late goal was a significant blow for Everton, who had worked tirelessly to keep City at bay.

In the extra time, Mateo Kovacic sealed the victory for the visitors with a well-taken sliding shot, putting the result beyond any doubt in the closing stages of the match.

While Manchester City ultimately bagged three points, Everton can take some flowers for their performance. They had opportunities to take the lead earlier in the game, with James Tarkowski hitting the post with a header in the first half and later creating a golden chance for Jarrad Branthwaite.

Goalkeeper Stefan Ortega, filling in for injured Ederson, also had to make a fine save from Branthwaite to keep the score level. This victory lifts them to fourth in the Premier League table.

The win ensures they will remain in the top four even if their rivals, Aston Villa and Chelsea, secure victories in their respective matches this weekend.
