The Cleveland Cavaliers secured a hard-fought 105-100 victory over the Brooklyn Nets, capping off an intense matchup at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse. Donovan Mitchell’s 31 points and Evan Mobley’s dominant defense led the Cavaliers to their fifth win in seven games.
The contest was a closely contested, physical affair from the start. Kevin Durant scored 14 of his 29 points in the first quarter, but the Cavaliers responded with a 12-2 run to take control. Cleveland’s bench provided a significant spark, outscoring Brooklyn’s 25-15.
In the second half, the Cavaliers’ defense gain strength, holding the Nets to just 40% shooting. Mobley’s defensive prowess was on full display, as he blocked 4 shots and altered several others. Darius Garland contributed with 21 points and 7 assists.
The Nets refused to back down, however. Durant and Kyrie Irving combined for 53 points, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Brooklyn’s 17 turnovers. The Cavaliers converted those miscues into 22 points.
In the fourth quarter, the Nets made a late comeback, cutting the deficit to just 3 points with 1:30 remaining. However, Mitchell sealed the win with 4 clutch free throws.
The Cavaliers’ victory marked their fifth win in seven games, propelling them up the Eastern Conference standings. The Nets dropped to 9-7.
Donovan Mitchell recorded his 10th 30-point game this season. Evan Mobley moved into 5th place on the Cavaliers’ all-time blocks list.
