Giuseppe Giannini, a revered figure in Roma’s history, has hailed Paulo Dybala as a standout talent for the club, placing him on the same level as Francesco Totti.
The former Italian midfielder who scored 75 goals in 437 appearances for Roma between 1981 and 1996 expressed his admiration for the Argentine striker in his recent chat with Il Messaggero newspaper.
Dybala’s recent hat-trick in Roma’s 3-2 victory over Torino further solidified his impact this season, prompting the comparison between the ex-Juventus star and Totti.
When questioned about Dybala’s talent compared to Roma’s iconic captain Totti, Giannini affirmed, “Yes, in terms of quality and creativity, he is among the best, if not the best after Francesco.”
“Without Dybala, you can see that Roma struggles to be dangerous close to the opponents’ box,” he concluded.
Recall that Daniel De Rossi upon his appointment as Roma’s new coach gave his verdict on Dybala’s best position, saying the 30-year-old will thrive under similar tactical freedom Francesco Totti benefited from.
Since joining the Giallorossi from Juventus in 2022, Paulo Dybala has netted 30 goals in 63 appearances for the Italian club. His contract is set to expire in June 2025.
