Cristian Stuani’s Brace Seals Girona’s Comeback Against Valencia

Dramatic afternoon as Cristian Stuani’s late brace secured a 2-1 comeback victory for Girona against Valencia at the Estadio Municipal de Montilivi.

The first half of the encounter saw both sides kept as bay with the only tangible chance recorded was an offside effort.

Valencia however broke the deadlock in the opening minutes of the second half, when Duro leveraged on a counterattack to grab a crucial goal for his side, before Girona seized control of the proceedings later on.

Meanwhile, it seemed as though the Blanquivermells’s seven-game unbeaten run was destined to end before Stuani came off the bench to fire in an equalizer from Yan Couto’s cross in the 83rd minute.

And five minutes later, the Uruguayan combined with Couto yet again to complete his side’s comeback victory and fire them to the top of the league tentatively.
