Novak Djokovic spoke about his plans for the coming weeks. And it won’t involve much of the ATP circuit.
The 37-year-old Serbian and 24 time Grand Slam champion revealed his plans ahead of this season’s ending events while on the sidelines of his exhibition match against Grigor Dimitrov on Tuesday where he lost 6-4, 2-6, [10-6] in a very funny encounter in Sofia, Bulgaria.
“For the first time in my career, I don’t have any long-term plans. I live in the moment and I’ll see what happens. Today I’m going to play in Sofia against Grigor, then in China, and then in an exhibition tournament in Saudi Arabia. After that, I don’t know. We’ll see how I feel and we’ll judge. Family life is very important to me. I want to be with my wife and children, to be part of their daily lives, which I haven’t been able to do for many years.”
Novak Djokovic could be in Berlin this week for the Laver Cup, or in Asia to play one of the many Chinese tournaments on the schedule.
The only ATP tournament Djokovic is registered for at the moment is the Masters 1000 in Shanghai (from October 2 to 13), which he has already won four times and which he will play for the first time in five years. “Novak sent a message to all his fans in China to announce his return, and the ticket office, already overloaded, was put under pressure. The reaction to his return was phenomenal,” the tournament director had also rejoiced.
