Bayern Munich has completed the loan signing of Eric Dier from Tottenham Hotspur on a 6-month contract until the end of the season, with an option for a further year.
The England international joined Spurs from Sporting Lisbon in the 2014/15 season, and notched up 365 appearances for the North London club, scoring 13 goals, howbeit, with no competitive trophy won yet—an undesirable run that can be ended during his stay in Germany.
“This move is a dream come true for me, because as a child you want to play for a club like Bayern one day,” Dier said.
The 29-year-old continued: “Bayern is one of the biggest clubs in the world and has an incredible history. I want to help the team with my versatility in defence. I’m really looking forward to my new teammates and the fans at the Allianz Arena, which in my eyes is one of the best stadiums in the world.”
Bayern’s sporting director Christoph Freund added: “We’re pleased we’ve been able to sign Eric Dier. He’s long been in our thinking for this transfer window. Eric will be a valuable part of our defence. His sporting abilities and international experience will help the team both on the pitch and in the changing room.”
Eric Dier will be linking up with his former Spurs teammate and fellow England compatriot Harry Kane who completed a $100m move from Spurs to Bayern last summer.
